Table Mountains in summer: Szczeliniec Wielki, Błędne Skały and accommodation in Polanica-Zdrój
The Table Mountains in summer is a time when the trails to Szczeliniec Wielki and Błędne Skały are fully open, and the weather is favorable for long hikes. Importantly, both rock labyrinths are located in the Table Mountains National Park, about 30 km from Polanica-Zdrój. Therefore, it is worth planning a 2-3 day stay to calmly explore both routes. From our hotel at Zdrojowa Street 89, you can reach Karłów by car in about 40 minutes.
Szczeliniec Wielki: the highest peak of the Table Mountains
Szczeliniec Wielki (919 m above sea level) is the highest point of the Table Mountains and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Lower Silesia. At the summit, there is a rock labyrinth with formations named such as the Grandfather's Armchair and the Little Hell. The tourist route leads from Karłów up 665 stone steps with handrails. Additionally, at the summit, there is the PTTK shelter "Na Szczelińcu," one of the two in Poland inaccessible by car.
Access to the paid route requires a ticket. Prices for the 2026 season are 16 PLN for a regular ticket and 8 PLN for a reduced ticket. Children under 7 enter free of charge, as do holders of the Large Family Card (in both cases, however, a so-called zero ticket must be obtained through the online system).
⚠️ Important: There is a limit of 400 people per hour on the trail, so it is best to buy tickets online in advance at pngs.gov.pl. On weekends and during peak season, tickets at the on-site ticket office are often completely sold out.
Trail opening hours depend on the month:
From June 1 to 14: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM
From June 15 to the end of July: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
In August: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM (the route closes one hour earlier)
Błędne Skały: a rock labyrinth within reach
Błędne Skały is the second must-see route in the Table Mountains National Park. The labyrinth is about 0.5 km long, and passing through takes 30 to 60 minutes. The route runs on comfortable wooden walkways between incredible rock formations such as the Rock Saddle, Hen's Foot, and the Great Hall. Here too, there is an entry limit: 350 people per hour.
Entrance ticket prices are the same as for Szczeliniec: 16 PLN (regular ticket) and 8 PLN (reduced ticket). The rules for online reservations and free entry for children under 7 and Large Family Card holders are exactly the same.
Parking at Błędne Skały – what you need to know:
Upper parking lot (right at the trail entrance): Entry for a passenger car costs 40 PLN. From there, it's just a 5-minute walk to the labyrinth. Due to the narrow access road, a shuttle traffic system is in place – uphill entries occur at full hours (e.g., 10:00–10:15), and downhill exits at half hours (e.g., 10:30–10:45). It is also advisable to buy the upper parking ticket online in advance!
Lower parking lot (Polana YMCA): Costs 5 PLN for each started hour. From here, it takes about 75 minutes on foot to reach the peak of Błędne Skały (blue trail).
Table Mountains in summer: getting there from Polanica-Zdrój
From us to Karłów, where the trail to Szczeliniec Wielki starts, is about 30 km. The drive takes 40-50 minutes along a scenic route through Szczytna and Radków. The distance to Błędne Skały is similar since both points are close to each other within the Park.
It is especially worth setting out early in the morning. During the summer season, parking lots in Karłów fill up before 9:00 AM. Commercial parking prices along the main road in Karłów range around 25-35 PLN for the entire day.
If you do not have a car, buses run from Polanica-Zdrój to Kudowa-Zdrój, from where you can transfer towards Karłów. However, connections can be infrequent, so a car remains the most practical option.
🐕 Important information: There is an absolute ban on taking dogs on the paid tourist routes in the Table Mountains National Park (Szczeliniec Wielki and Błędne Skały). Our hotel also does not accept pets, so travelers with four-legged companions should consider this in their plans.
